item in hand

the item in hand
245$a Uncontrolled title transcribed from the item in hand, or supplied

whole work in hand; prior to format integration, coded 740 for
monographs
247$a Uncontrolled former title of an integrating resource (e.g.
loose-leaf service or website); prior to successive entry for serials,
earlier title of serial entered under most recent title
440$a Controlled transcribed series title
490$a Uncontrolled transcribed series title; while not an access point,
it may be a cross reference to controlled version in 830; if controlled
version is not in 8XX, consider quoting in 500 rather than
transcribing in 490
500$a Uncontrolled quoted series title like phrase lacking a subject
word
505$t Uncontrolled title of a part of the work in hand in a formatted
contents note

740$a Uncontrolled title of related work or part of work in hand
780$t Uncontrolled earlier title of a serial entered under successive
entry; 500/7XX still used for monographs despite format integration
785$a Uncontrolled later title of a serial entered under successive
entry; later title information not usually added to monograph records
800/810/811$t Subordinate series title, entered under person, body,
or conference, with transcribed version in 490
830$a Controlled series title different in form from transcribed version
in 490
840$a Older version of 830 (440 was not changed to 430 when 840 was
changed to 830)
All 7XX titles should be "justified" by a mention in a 5XX note. All
title fields except 500, unformatted 505, and 490 should be indexed as
access points. "Controlled" means capable of being verified against an
authority file.
